What are your main duties and how do they benefit others?
I am the President of ARMS (Anglia Ruskin Medical Students). My role is to organise and manage social events, sports teams, merchandise and academic events for our members.
This benefits others by creating things to do outside of Medicine. Socially, we have just had our MedBall and before that a Halloween Social, plus we put on a very successful Freshers Week which allowed everyone to meet each other. On a sports front, our football team gives a good break from Medicine and last weekend we won 5-1! Furthermore, we are in the process of starting ARMS Netball to provide sporting opportunities for everybody!
What have you enjoyed most about volunteering?
Seeing the enjoyment that our members get from events, and the friendships that have formed as a result!
What skills have you learnt and used during your volunteering?
Teamwork and Time Management, there’s a lot to juggle but its more than worth it.
What are your future career aspirations?
At the moment a Paediatric Consultant, and this helps as allows me to build on and develop new skills which I can transfer going forward.
What inspires you to volunteer?
Being able to put on social events that hundreds come to, putting on sports activities for members to play and to help on an academic front too!
What is your favourite volunteering memory?
Our Black History Month Event - thank you David Sellu
Why do you love volunteering?
As it gives our members the opportunity to meet and enjoy themselves outside of studies.
Do you have any last thoughts or comments?

Expanding the Committee to 12 due to our success so far.
