As a committee member of a Club or Society at ARU Students' Union, or at Team ARU, you are a volunteer! This means that all the work you do as part of your Club or Society can be logged as volunteering hours and skills through the Volunteer Centre. But which hours can you log?
Meetings or training conducted by the Students’ Union
Committee meetings conducted within your club/society
Development planning and preparation work for your club/society
Development planning and preparation work for an event or social
Supervisory activities (an event where you are coordinating others, not participating in)
Any training or coaching delivered by yourself
Communication with club/society members
Travel in which you are a volunteer driver
Attending or delivering your AGM presentation
Travel time to and from events
Events or activities which you are participating in but not coordinating e.g. sports fixtures, sport training sessions, activity sessions, guest lectures, non-volunteering trips
Generally, if you are doing a task for free and for the benefit of others, this is volunteering!
