Chelmsford Committee Member of the Month March: Niamh Wearen


Niamh is a second year Applied Nutritional Science Student and the Fundraising Officer for the Sirens Cheerleading Society.

Niamh has led her society’s fundraising efforts throughout the year including bake sales and bag packing events to raise money for the society, to help reduce their member’s fees including competition entry fees, uniform costs and the cost of their coach and training spaces. Siren’s also raise money for their partnered charity MIND, who help to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of mental health issues and offer support to those who may be suffering.


“Being on the committee for the cheerleading team has been very rewarding knowing that I have helped my team members save some money. I most enjoyed meeting all the amazing people on my team and having fun with them at training and other events.”


Niamh has learnt to be more confident in herself through her committee role and has learnt not to afraid of asking for help.


“I want to work with people in the future so being on a committee with others has helped me learn how to effectively communicate with others.Volunteering is a great way to give my time to a good cause and help others while having fun and gaining new skills.”
