Volunteers Urgently Needed for Chelmsford Festival of Ideas!

Volunteer and help support a major local event - The Chelmsford Festival of Ideas will be held from 13/10/12 to 20/10/12 as a week for sharing innovative ideas.

The third Chelmsford Ideas Festival are looking for volunteers to help support an exciting and diverse range of events to develop Chelmsford as an Innovative City.  You could be involved with designing the re-use of heritage buildings, 'open thought' debates, student creative designs, promotion and publicity and helping out during the days.

Support and Promotion Volunteers

The Festival of Ideas are looking for volunteers to help in supporting and promoting the Shire Hall Heritage Triangle debate and exhibition to members of the public in Chelmsford City Centre on Saturday 13th October 2012 from 11am to 2pm.  The event begins at 2pm if you are also interested in attending - the debate is hosted by the Council and Changing Chelmsford and focuses on the future of the heritage triangle which includes the Anne Knight building, Marconi Factory and Shire Hall. 

On Sunday 14th October 2012 there will also be a 3D printing demonstration which is hosted by Alex Collins from Anglia Ruskin University.  This event will be held at the Ideas Festival Hub in Chelmsford Market Square (near the High Chelmer Multistorey Car Park) and will demonstrate the FDM methods of 3D Printing.  Volunteers are needed to help with promotion and stewarding.

Event Support Champions

To engage diverse sectors of the wider community in shaping Chelmsford’s future by holding events, providing forums for collaboration and establishing trusts. There will be the opportunity to get involved in taking part in the Changing Chelmsford/Anglia Ruskin Festival of Ideas. Administrative support is required for the:

  • Running of workshops, seminars and lectures,
  • Clerical work greeting attendees,
  • Handing out badges, and
  • Organisation of IT for presentations.

Participation in events is required such as responding to presenters and providing a students perspective on a range of issues, particularly in respect of Chelmsford’s future.  Events run from 13th to 20th October 2012
