Cambridge Area 14-19 Partenrship are organising several events around England with different schools to help year 10 students with their employability skills. Below are the ates and locations of their events.
03 June: Linton Village College, 8am - 3pm (shorter slots can be arranged). Mock Interviewing event. We need your help in interviewing students and giving them feedback. Also, if interested you could take part in a communication and/or problem solving exercise, observing students and giving them feedback.
19 June: Bassingbourn Village College, 10:50 - 13:10. This event is an introduction to CV writing and interviewing skills. We need 4 volunteers who are happy to talk to a class of 20-30 students. This event will be followed by a mock interviewing event next year.
24 June: Foundation Learner event, 9-12. Teachers of our special schools want to meet employers who want to support our foundation learners. Could you offer work experience placements or discuss future employment possibilities for students with additional needs or lower academic ability? Then please do sign up and come along. You will have an open discussion with school staff about what you can offer and to learn what the students could do. Your help will be highly appreciated.
01 July Bassingbourn 1-3pm Careers Carousel. You will lead small groups of students in 20-30 minute workshops explaining what you do, careers in your field and how to get there. Incorporating a short activity can help give them a better idea.
15 & 16 July Parkside. This event is an introduction to employability, and is designed to give students the experience of the sorts of assessments used in recruitment. There will also be panel discussions to introduce students to a range of career pathways including apprenticeships.
If you would like to help and volunteer, please look up the oppurtunity on the website or contact Clare, firstname.lastname@example.org.
