As you’ve been through the experience yourself  you will remember the anxieties and questions you had when you started Uni.  We want you to be a ‘friendly face’  to answer questions about studying at Anglia Ruskin University, offer top tips about living and studying in Cambridge/Chelmsford.

The success of this scheme  relies on students like yourself getting involved.  We need as many students as possible to take part as our aim is to pair a current student with any new student wishing to participate in this scheme.

Most of the contact will be by e-mail in August and September and therefore there is very little requirement for you to be on campus, however you will need to be available to meet your new student(s) during Welcome Week –week commencing 23rd September 2013.

This role will not take up a massive amount of your time but will make a real difference to some of our students.  You will  need to attend a training session which will include guidance on developing coaching techniques/skills.   All of these skills and participation in this scheme can be added to your CV to help you stand out to future employers.

As this is a pilot we will need your feedback on what worked and where we can make improvements for future intakes.  Therefore at the end of the pilot you will need to complete a short evaluation survey.

We hope that you will see this as a great opportunity and in recognition for your work you will be awarded a certificate at the end of the pilot.

Training events will last around 2 hours and will take place week commencing 20th May 2013. If you are unable to attend the training events but would like to be involved please do still register as there may be some flexibility and we also hope to run this scheme in January 2014.

To participate you simply need to register with the Volunteering Service by e-mailing k.bell@angliastudent.com  (Cambridge students) and s.lane@angliastudent.com  (Chelmsford students) please include the following information within the body of your e-mail.
