London Committee Member of the Month: Ingrida Sragauskaite

Name: Ingrida Sragauskaite

Course: International Business Management, Year 1

Volunteer Role: Christian Society committee member

"My favourite volunteering memories are people, their shyness and slow opening up of their beautiful personalities"

What are your main duties and how do they benefit others?

To inform people about upcoming meetings, partnering with the SU and University to provide a safe place for people to be able to come and share their faith and life, communicating with the students about events and their wellbeing, ensuring consistency. Also, making sure everyone has been heard, loved, advised and comforted, if needed!

What have you enjoyed most about volunteering?

I have enjoyed the professionalism and hard work of Izzie (London SU Coordinator) for her support and care for the students. The Students' Union is a very loving and caring organisation and community. It is also very educational and inspirational to see that you are not alone and if you have an idea, there is always a way to make it happen.

What skills have you learnt and used during your volunteering?

Courage, improved communication, leadership, responsibility, accountability, improved team work and listening and responding skills, organizational skills, patience, kindness, compassion and a right to use my voice to create a change. It teaches real life scenarios, because not everyone is willing to be part of a change and accept, it helps not to take things personally, professionalism and kindness, also to have fun and enjoy wherever I am and whoever I am surrounded with.

What are your future career aspirations?

My career aspirations is to create a business and help people to make generational wealth, teach them to be debt free and be kind to one another.

What inspires you to volunteer?

People, their changed lives, the challenge, to learn new skills, support a team and fill gaps if there are any.

What is your favourite volunteering memory?

People, their shyness and slow opening up of their beautiful personalities, helping to find or to use their strengths by compensating weaknesses

Why do you love volunteering?

It is an activity, hobby, responsibility, interaction with people

Do you have any last thoughts or comments?

I would like to thank Izzie Miller for teaching me, supporting me, for being a true leader and hard worker and also for her beautiful unconditional heart towards all students
