What are your main duties and how do they benefit others?

I am the treasurer for the Yoga club, and try to ensure the smooth running and financial security of the club to that our members can benefit from it both now, and in the future too. This year we have purchased a projector to enable our instructor to continue our Yoga sessions via Zoom (and be able to see us all clearly), as face-to-face teaching is not currently permitted.

What have you enjoyed most about volunteering?

I've enjoyed getting to know a great group of people, who are all so positive in their outlooks and supportive too, both inside and outside of society business.

What skills have you learnt and used during your volunteering?

Teamwork and negotiation.

What are your future career aspirations?

I am hoping to take on a lecturing position combined with continued research. The financial skills I have honed here will certainly help with applying for and tracking my research funding!

What inspires you to volunteer?

I would like to think that my presence at the university/in general, is a net gain for those around me. One person can make a difference, so get out there and see what you can do.

What is your favourite volunteering memory?

I really enjoyed taking part in the freshers fair. It was great to be able to talk to people about what the yoga society could offer them,

Why do you love volunteering?

It's great to feel part of a community. Gifting your time knowing it's going to help improve peoples' lives and wellbeing, it's time well spent.
