Who am I?

Hello, I'm Rebecca Olson and I would love to represent you this year! I am from an extremely tiny town in the middle of nowhere Minnesota, USA. You may have seen me as I was elected Student Rep two years ago during placement year in Zoology and I am looking forward to working with the student body again. I am very friendly and approachable so if you see me around say hi!

Why do I want to be Student Rep?

I want to make sure your voices are heard! Due to COVID-19, representation is more crucial now than ever before. The learning environment is extremely different this year. The pandemic has forced us into distance learning and while some have welcomed these changes, many students including myself have been struggling more than usual. Our faculty has done their best in transitioning from the classroom to Canvas, some things have worked well and some things have not. If the course is not working for you and you believe something needs to change, your opinion is important no matter if you are attending classes in Cambridge or studying online halfway across the world.

Why you should vote for me:

The requirement of being a student rep is attending just one Student Staff Liaison Committee meeting once semester where student feedback on the course is presented. While I am more than happy to stand up and raise concerns at that time, I also do not believe that 2 meetings are enough in this ever-changing environment. There needs to be open and ongoing communication between students and staff right now and I will make sure your feedback is listened to. I may not have all the answers right away, however I promise that I will work my hardest to resolve any issues you may have and get you the resources you need to succeed.
