Hi, my name is Antoinette Chukwuemeka-uzor, i would like to stand for the position of Black and Minority Ethnic(BME) Students' Rep. I am BA3 Social Work student(Full time). i am involved in the mediation of Black and Ehnic Minority group [n the community in a charity organisation. i believe with my experince in this group, i can tranfer skills needed to support this role.

According to the Equality and Diversity Annual report of Anglia Ruskin University, 30% of the total student are Black, or Minority Ehnic group. If you for me my key focuses would include

1. Provion of forum where information sharing and ideas and issues that bother black and Minority Ethnic students will be discussed. expecially new students in the campus who finding it difficult to settle down due to change of environment and culture. Equality Act 2000, places a duty on public organisations to ensure that equal opportunity and relation is fostered in Anglia Ruskin  University community and prevent unlaw discrimination.

2.  Organise events, seminars that requires professionals from BME, to address the issues of bullying, exclusion, cultural awareness confliect resolution and management, and how they overcame their experinces.

3. I will work with the university in areas that promote the health and well-being ofBME students, raising awareness on areas like diabiates, mental health illness, cancer and other events that can promote inclusion in order to make the university a community that is a safe environmrnt to study for a successful experince in the campus.

4. I will also work along side with the student union in resolving any pressing issues of BME students that need urgent attention by the university. 

5. Finally i will organise programmes that will address issues around assignment especially for international students who speak English as a second language. This will eliminate or reduce the rise in plagiarism with students whose learning styles are different from Anglia Ruskin University learning methods. Similarly, it will give them the opportunity for a higher grades, and be able to compete in the labour market,  and their learning experience will be worthwhile in United Kingdom
