Mobilisation and change.
BME Students, I got you all.
About Me
If you know me, you know me. #winks#
And if you dont, feel free to get to know me. I am fun, colourful, easy going, bubbling, approachable (for all the right reasons), understanding and above all I am very determined.
I am standing in to represent the ARU BME students here in Chelmsford.
I have been elected x2 to be my course rep surely I was doing a great job for my fellow class mates to find me eligible to lead them twice. While I was representing my class I was also elected as the International student rep for Chelmsford which I really enjoyed and I did a great job along side with my colleagues, to make International students not feel home sick and get involve in activities on campus.
Now I am back again and this time I am standing in for BME. If elected, I will welcome input from students and student staff.
My Plans
I want to represent and lead the discussion at ARU Chelmsford issues that can affect minority students, here in Chelmsford. Lately BME community has been on the news globally for you know....... #seriousFace# things, I am not going to shuga coat it.
During the Lock down, and following the untimely death of George Floyd and many more shady activities, I do not need to ring it more that BME community matters.
It is time to remind and raise awareness of things that, though they affect all students to a certain extent, but particularly affect students from minority background. I do not need to give examples but if you insist, examples include: employability, engagement with local and national elections and getting the most out of uni in terms of grades and student experience.
If I am elected, I will make good use of my 1year in power to implement change but let us be honest with ourselves BME students, you need to get involve and help me achieve these, let us current BME student lay a positive foundation for the next upcoming BME students at ARU, even after we have graduated and we will be the envy of other universities and they will leaen and follow suit.
If you nominate I GOLD DOMINIC as your (BME) rep I will tackle key issues. I have been a student at ARU Chelmsford for years, NOT the average 3years, I mean yearssssssss so I know wagwan.
I'm standing for Black and Minority officer not for the title but to be the voice of the BME community; staff and student.
The interests of BME students is important to me and I will always raise up our matter when student-related topics are discussed or decisions are made at the Students’ Union
It is important to note that ‘Black and Minority’ here refers to people with African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American backgrounds. ARU is currently institutionalising over 3 thousand BME student.
I propose to create, positive change but the change depends on you all. There is a saying, "you can take a horse to the river, but you can't force it to drink" BME if you are ready for a change, then vote me in and let me take you to the promise land. You all BME students here at ARU Chelmsford, you all matter, during your stay here and after your stay here.
One of the things I will do is run a CONFIDENCE, communication work shop once a month, to empower / polish you all and remind you of how special you all are because I have observed that BME sometimes forget their worth and forget that they have a voice that needs to be heard.
BME vote me in and help me to help you, because we all are in these together regardless of our religion, gender, family wealth. Etc.
Love yourself, Love your neighbour and community, embrace who you are, and remember it isn't just white, black, Asian or brown, but human.
VOTE GOLD DOMINIC FOR Chelmsford BME STUDENT REP.
