I am Fraser Luther-Yarwood, starting my first year on the EdD, but have been at ARU since September 2014 having complete my BA and MA in Education Studies.
In the 2 years before I started the EdD course I was the Vice President for HEMS at the Students’ Union as well as being a course rep before hand in my final year. Through these years I have learnt a lot about rep structures and the best ways to get change made.
Within the Vice-Presidential role, I had the opportunity to network within the faculty and make strong connections with senior staff in the faculty include Head of Schools, Deputy Deans and Deans. I was even able to sit on the PGR committee alongside the current PGR reps pushing for changes to improve your experience here at ARU.
If I were to become your PGR representative I would first and foremost listen to your concerns, or even your highlights to make sure our experience is filled with more of the good and less of the bad. Some of the issues that were worked on in my time as Vice President include PGR mental health, PGR supervisions support as well as printing costs.
