Hello!
My name is Lucy and I'm a 1st year Child Nursing student.
I would love to be the HEMS faculty rep because I want to be able to give students a voice. In secondary school, as a quieter member of the school, I always felt that my views and ideas were never listened to. Throughout sixth form I was able to participate in many events that helped students like me be heard by the wider student body, and I would love that opportunity again.
Being able to bring students across the courses together would be amazing, we're all on the same road, and are part of the same ARU family!
Due to the current Coronavirus situation, I think many students have felt quite anxious and isolated in the stages of starting their courses. There is a lot of unknown in starting uni online and I believe it has been very worrying for a lot of people! On our course, we quickly made a group chat so we all got to know each other and this really helped when starting! Within the group, I loved being someone people in the group felt they could come to with questions and worrys. I was named the 'mum' of the group by a number of students as they felt they could come to me and I wouldn't judge them, and would always try my hardest to answer questions and point them in the right direction to get an answer if I didn't know it! I want to be a friendly and approachable face on campus (or online!) for people to talk and express their concerns or ideas to, and to generally be able to help anyone in need.
We need to help each other to make our next challenge an easier one. I would love the opportunity to help bring everyone together, and to allow students to be heard when they may not feel comfortable speaking up for themselves.
I love being out communicating with fellow and prospective students, and to be able to help them bring some of their views to light would be amazing!
Thank you!
