Hello all midwives in the making! As some of you will know by now, my name is Perdy and I would love to stand to be your year representative. I am 23 years old and I have just finished a degree (in a completley un-midiwifery-related subject). During this, I became aware that there was very little communication between the academic staff and the students on a number of conerns which made life at uni just a little less comfortable. When difficulties arose (multiple deadlines happening at once, disruption caused by COVID and so on), we felt that the academic staff were not really aware of the student perspective. The year representative is someone who acts as a bridge between staff and students so that we can perform to the very best of our abilities and are supported by our tutors and teachers. I will gather information from all of you, my peers, and feed it back to our academics who can act on how we feel. Having recently completed a university degree, I believe I have a good understanding of how this role can be carried out so that everyone benefits. I am confident, can  communicate clearly and am able to present ideas in a balanced way.
