We can do this - Positivity over negativity
Having represented the Chelmsford BA cohort in our first year at University, I am standing again in 2020 having been requested to do so by colleagues and the course leaders.
I believe I provide the support required by my fellow students and have built up a strong relationship with course leaders during my first year at ARU.
2019/20 was a challenging time for our group and through gathering student feedback and discussion on important matters I believe that we managed to make the changes nescessary to successfully complete our first year.
Successes through representation
- New template for gathering information to be adopted by the Student Union
- Comprehensive and detailed representation at SSLC meetings.
- Larger classrooms for the second trimester
- More individual tutorial support
- Changes to teaching timetable to suit our learning
- More contact during the the Covid lockdown and summer break
- Application of the no detriment policy
- Ensuring students had a voice in how lockdown learning would be carried out
- Succesfully challenging the ARDP assessment timetable (1st ever 100% pass rate)
It was my intention to stand down in 2020/21 in order to allow others to stand for representation but I have received an external nomination and I feel that it would be useful to build on the relationships and lines of communication that have already been established.
2020/21 is going to be an even more challenging year and more than ever I believe that the students need to be involved in how our learning progresses while accepting that the course leaders have challenges of their own at this difficult time for us all.
If you would like me to continue as Student Rep for the BA2 year I would be honoured to do so. However, if new representation is desired, rest assured that I will work tirelessly to assist the newly elected rep.
