Umran Bashir is a 2nd year Finance and Accounting student and is our Rep of the Month winner for December in London. Umran is our first Rep of the Month winner in London and we’re very proud!
Umran is the Course Rep for his year of Finance and Accounting, he represents his colleague’s points of view and raises awareness of any issues within the University.
“The Students’ Union gives us more power as last year I was a Rep but had no higher power to fall back on. With theStudents’ Union, we are actually a team and can support each other, so thank you very much!”
“While I had a lot of the skills already from before I took up this position, the Students’ Union support mechanisms really makes everything better!”
Umran is looking to go into a high paid job with a company who has an ethical corporate governance. He loves to help and guide others as it makes him feel as if he’s making a difference to others on his course.
“My favourite memory from this role has definitely been debating my colleague’s points with the faculty board meeting. This may sound corny, but the reason I love volunteering is because I believe in paying it forward. I expect myself to help others and in good time, the ones I help then may help others.”
Megan Bennett and Emma Howes, two of the London Representative Co-Ordinators, nominated Umran for Rep of the Month. Megan says;
“Umran has been fantastic at getting involved an raising issues right from the start. He’s also really helped the Students’ Union in the first few weeks of setting up in London as our presence there was virtually non-existent beforehand! He’s reliable, very passionate and a brilliant advocate for the Students’ Union”
“The Students’ Union are fantastic as they are an excellent support mechanism for us who want to take a stand for students. I wanted to thank Megan for all her support and I love my hoody!”
Well done Umran! Your dedication to being a Course Rep has been amazing and we hope you continue your hard work in the future.
