Iqrah is a 2nd year Business Management and Leadership student and the Rep of the Month Winner for Chelmsford for December 2017! She is also the President of the Public Speaking Society.
As with many Representatives, Iqrah represents the views of her peers on her course and feeds it back to the relevant people. Not only does this benefit her peers, but it ensures that their views are heard and valued by the faculty.
“The sense of belonging and community is what I’ve enjoyed most about volunteering with the SU as it’s helped me gain confidence and team working skills. It has allowed me to network with the brilliant staff and students at ARU Students’ Union.”
“The opportunity of being a Rep has given me the valuable skills and experience which will increase my employability. There are so many opportunities available at the SU for career inspiration!”
Iqrah’s inspiration for volunteering comes from getting involved in the community to help others and gain experience whilst doing so. Her favourite memory comes from having the ability to network with inspirational people and making friends!
Toby Pallatt, the Representation Co-Ordinator for LAIBS and FST, nominated Iqrah for Rep of the month due to her dedication to the role by volunteering herself for FQESS, a meeting that aims to improve the faculty, and very rarely have students speak at them. She also started the Public Speaking Society, which is dedicated to those in her class that suffer from nerves.
Iqrah has this to say about why she loves volunteering;
“I love volunteering because it helps develop social skills and understanding for others!”
