ARU Students' Union is supporting the NUS NoToNoDeal campaign “We are calling on the UK Government to avoid a No Deal outcome” to find out more about this campaign please visit:

But, why?

There is a high amount of uncertainty with a no-deal scenario and as a union, we value in supporting what is in the best interests of our students.

  • Students have said they care about Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+ programme, in the event of a no-deal these programmes cease.
  • Students have said “cost of living” is important, in the event of a no-deal Brexit it is predicted that there will be a fresh food shortage and an increase in food pricing.
  • Students have expressed in the Brexit policy “student welfare is important” in the event of a no-deal Brexit they could be a medication shortage as well as this the health cover provided by your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) would cease to exist.

Stated within the Brexit: impact on education policy we will continue our work to “lobby the university to ensure any decisions made in response to Brexit which directly or indirectly impact students will be communicated to them clearly and in a timely manner”.
