Committee Member of the Month January 2018 - Cambridge!

Tom Heald is a 3rd year Drama student and is our Committee Member of the Month winner for Cambridge in January 2018! He is the President of the Cue.5 ARU theatre society and his main duties include organising fortnightly workshops and overseeing the society events. He organises all performances in creative and producer territories.

“I have loved the experience of running the SU society. It's been great to gain experience in putting on both successful events and performances throughout the year which has improved my own creative juices.”

“I’ve been able to develop my leadership, people and organisation skills while under this role. Combined with being able to produce shows, workshops, and talks in theatre, it has given me valuable experience that I can use in my own career going forward.”

Tom gets his inspiration from having previously wanted to get involved with the society in an effort to bring theatre opportunities to students throughout the campus.

“I wanted to bring these opportunities not just Drama students and to provide drama students an opportunity to perform outside of the stress of their degrees.”

“I can’t decide what my favourite memory is because of the vast expanse of shows that we have produced with the society. All events have been such a good time!”

Bee Newboult, the Course Based Societies Co-Ordinator, nominated Tom for his role as President of Cue.5. and had this to say about him:

“Tom has shown incredible skills in inclusivity and encouragement of accessibility to all and has dedicated extensive time to the society and clearly strives for a strong future. Tom has actively sought advice and implemented change to support members of his society and committee. Along with a strong committee, Tom championed an amazing event in Murder Mystery and has shown increasing engagement and enthusiasm in developing the society further.”

Tom’s final words about volunteering with the Students’ Union are;

“I love volunteering with the society as it's really heightened my university experience.”
