Hi! I'm Cavya Antony, your Students' Union President, and I have a message to share with you from the university about some changes that have been made to how you submit your assignments this year! Check out the video below:

Returning students will notice a change this trimester – there have been big improvements in how we can now submit assignments. We now need to submit our new assignments in Canvas, rather than Turnitin.

The university has put together some simple video guides, so please make sure you know what you now need to do. You can find these here – www.aru.ac.uk/my-assessment. You will find loads of useful videos on this page; they will help you understand how to submit any late work and how to submit any re-assessment in the future.

You’ll be glad to hear that there are now automated assessment due date nudges, to remind everyone to submit assignments on time. You will also receive an email confirming you have submitted your work in Canvas successfully.

If you have any re-assessment or exceptional circumstances from previous trimesters, please check with your faculty administrators as you may be required to still submit in Turnitin.

If an unexpected life event, such as an illness, will impact on your ability to meet your deadline and you need more time, you can request an extension request form on Ask ARU (https://arul.ink/ask-aru). If you fail to meet a deadline due to unforeseen circumstances such as an illness or bereavement, then applying for exceptional circumstances may be something you choose to do. You can discuss how this works and get support from the Student Advice team at the iCentre. If it is later than five working days since your deadline, you can get support from the Students’ Union advice service at www.angliastudent.com/advice.
