It’s understandable that the changes to Books Plus has got you feeling a bit overwhelmed. It can seem like the end of the world. But it’s not! Here are some things to keep in mind.

If you’re a current student, it won’t affect you.

That’s right, it won’t affect you – at all! So there’s no need for you to worry whatsoever. But, thinking about how worried you were, maybe you should consider attending The Group Chat to have your say on the changes.

If you need support, it will still be available

For future students, rather than Books Plus, there will be a bursary available to eligible students. This means that your household income will need to be below a certain threshold, as well as meeting certain criteria which is yet to be decided; a consultation will be held at The Group Chat to discuss possibilities.

There are other options

If you’re not eligible for the bursary, you could always consider getting part-time work to fit around your studies with the Employment Bureau, or check out what student opportunities ARU Students’ Union have available.

Also, see if you can buy second-hand books from previous students or charity shops for a discounted price – it is much more affordable than buying all your books brand new!

Have a look in the library. You may be able to find all the books you need from the library, and therefore, you don’t have to buy any of them. Just make sure you take enough notes!
