On the 16th/17th October 2018 ParaSoc ran a 24 HOUR CPRathon to raise money for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance. It was ran on National Restart A Heart Day to raise awareness of cardiac arrests and the importance of CPR. The event ran from 7:30am-7:30am the next day running all through the night with the parasoc Committee there throughout and inviting bystanders in the University to join in and take part.

“Once the society began the committee had doubts we would complete the challenge due to how hard it was proving to be, however they pushed on and competed the whole 24 hours of continuous CPR.”

This society is a means of both organising and attending events, CPD accredited events and social events to make more friends within the Paramedic Science cohorts.

“It had given me a challenge to create new ideas and work towards something other than just my degree.” – Vanessa Groom

The committee of this society would like to give an extra special shout out too Rebecca Raphael and Bethany Wheeler who worked extra hard to organise this event - wouldn’t have been able to do it without you two!

The society and the Students’ Union are hugely proud of the success of this event, and can’t wait for the final figure raised to be counted: keep up to date via the societies twitter @ARUParaSoc or the Students’ Union @AngliaRuskinSU.
