At Shine we: 

- raise awareness of the challenges created by the conditions 

- offer support and advice over the telephone from a health and welfare perspective 

- run regular support group sessions both online and face to face for children and adults affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus 

- deliver training to professionals, schools, colleges, employers 

- have a wealth of resources and informaiton that help our members to understand and manager their conditions 

-cover all age groups 

Spina bifida literally means ‘split spine’. It occurs when a baby’s spine doesn’t form properly, leaving a gap in the bones where the spinal cord is left vulnerable. Hydrocephalus occurs when there’s a build up of Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) fluid between the brain and the skull. Both are life long conditions.

    Could you offer a few hours a week to help our lovely Resources and Fundraising team in Shine’s Head Office based in Peterborough?Tasks are varied and could include:Assisting with a variety of upcoming projects and campaigns across Shine including Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Awareness week, Go Yellow for Shine.Sending out vital resources and information to our Shine members and supporters.Plus, being part of a great team, and knowing you are helping to support people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus.

    The role will be based at Shine’s Head Office in Peterborough.

    This is a varied role and a great opportunity for you not only to learn new skills but gain experience of working within a charity and its business workings. You will receive a full induction to Shine and to your role and have a member of staff as a named contact who will support you.

    You could do one, or all, of the following activities.

    Project Management

    Assisting with a variety of upcoming projects or campaigns across Shine including Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Awareness week, Go Yellow for Shine. Answering and directing calls and making up information packs for members and fundraising supporters 

    Events 

    Support the Shine Fundraising team and Shine Services team with the annual  programme of virtual and face to face events for staff, members and supporters 

    Data

    Logging data information on SalesForce (CRM) - (Training will be given). Updating member records, mailing, filing, Scanning documents, preparing materials and writing letters and any other ad hoc admin tasks that might pop up.
