  • Chelmsford Chooses Love Volunteering Opportunities

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

Chelmsford Chooses Love is a local group, focused on issues around global solidarity, justice and equality. Specific topics the group works on include international development and UK aid, refugees, climate change and the environment, and other interconnected issues. The aim is to highlight the progress and positive change happening around the world, raise awareness of the need to continue to transform our world for the better, and encourage people to take action in their own communities.

There are a range of ways you can get involved with Chelmsford Chooses Love - we’ve provided a few examples below. We don’t require a specific weekly or monthly time commitment, so you are very welcome to get involved as much as you would like to, and in whatever ways are meaningful to you. We will hold a 1:1 call initially to get to know you more and understand what you’d like to get out of your voluntary experience with us. And if you have any ideas or suggestions for events, activities or projects we haven’t started yet, please let us know!

Social Media Volunteer - If you’re interested in supporting with the running of the Facebook page, and finding and creating content to post regularly, we’d love to hear from you!

Planning events - We organise events and activities throughout the year to engage with people locally on topics such as aid, international development, the climate crisis, refugees, and other interconnected issues. From speaker sessions and talks, to film screenings and street stalls, we’d love for you to get involved and help us to organise engaging and informative events that can inspire people locally!

Engaging with local media - If you’re interested in writing press releases, articles or opinion pieces, or even speaking on local radio, we’d love to hear from you! We’d love to expand the work we do here and find new avenues to engage with people on the topics we focus on.

Engaging with your MP - We can support you to write, phone or even meet with your MP to discuss issues such as UK aid, tackling the climate crisis, and welcoming refugees.
