Dental Health Care Volunteer

This opportunity takes place from 05 Dec 2022

This role is an opportunity to gain experience of an NHS environment. Volunteers will support the Dental Health Care Team to ensure that patients attending appointments have a positive experience and are compliant with infection control measures, as well as assisting with admin tasks and supporting staff during the working day. Volunteers will have the opportunity to complete the National Volunteer Certificate if they wish.

Dental Health Care is a specialised NHS dental service in the community in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Suffolk. The team provide urgent dental care, special care dentistry, minor oral surgery and oral health improvement training and awareness sessions.

All volunteers are recruited in line with NHS Employers guidelines - these include right to work and identity checks, Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) clearance if relevant to the role, references and occupational health clearance. Volunteers also complete a mandatory training booklet which is repeated annually.

What attributes would your ideal volunteer have?

Good communication skills - telephone & face to face. Able to reassure patients with additional needs. Commit to a minimum of 6 months volunteering, for a morning or afternoon per week (M-F 9-5).
