What do we do? And why do you need to join?
All our activities this year are directed towards one aim - to support and encourage you in your career journeys. It does not have to be a career in law that you are pursuing, because the knowledge of law and how it can be applied is always required whatever you do.
We are aiming to keep you updated of all the talks, conferences, panels and other events which may be of interest to you, which will boost your general knowledge of law and commercial awareness. There are so many fascinating things going on on- and off-campus, and it is very easy to miss them. We will make sure you don’t!
We, as a Committee, are also keen to deliver regular events that will open the door to a wealth of information, advice and useful contacts, such as panel and networking sessions, guest speaker events, talks and workshops, organised by the Society or in collaboration with the Faculty of Business and Law, Law School, Law Clinic and Employability Services. Joining us for these activities will be absolutely invaluable for you, as it will let you network with lawyers (and not only lawyers – keep an eye on our social media to find out more!) and help develop other soft skills.
The membership of a Law Society is also a valuable addition to your CV that will show the employers that you are not only actively involved with your course, but are also interested in further opportunities for personal and professional growth and development. And this holds true not only for the Law Students!
For all the non-law students
If you want to know more about the law and how it works in practice, if you want to show your employer that you are not only interested in what you are studying but also involved with other areas of practice, and if you merely want to expand your knowledge – join the Law Society!
We will be offering a variety of talks and panels this year, and you may well be interested in attending many of them!

LLM Anglia Ruskin Press - now under the Law Society's wing!
The LLMs Anglia Ruskin Press website is a website co-founded last year by two Anglia Ruskin University LLM students; Cyprien De Massol and Yoan Guillard.
The website’s main objective is to create a platform for students to express themselves and showcase their ideas and knowledge about various international law topics.
Its main idea is to centralize PG students’ skills to focus and write on these subjects as well as offer a wider platform for UG students to publish their outstandingly marked dissertations.
This website offers an opportunity for everyone to learn through articles. Each article is distinguished by an international law topic chosen by the student and supervised by one of our two supervisors.
Articles have already been published and so far, more than 1,000 log-ins have been made to read them. Each article offers a section for comments and debates.
Therefore, each and every reader is able to interact and get across his idea on the subject of the article.

The Law Society at the Cambridge campus is committed to being sustainable and to working with the Anglia Ruskin Green Team to reduce the environmental impact we, as students and as a University, have on our community.
Membership costs £10.00 per academic year and goes towards the organisation and running of social events, panel and networking discussions, talks from guest speakers and other events.
