Peer Learning Society (PLS)

Welcome to Peer Learning Society!

We aim to provide a wide variety of events to help you develop and reinforce your knowledge of medicine - both within the course and for a bit of extra interest. We hope to encourage a collaborative culture where we can come together and learn from one another. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we will have focused revision sessions and mocks in the run-up to summative exams to support your exam preparation.

What you can expect

  • Revision sessions, organised by students for students, spanning across medicine
  • Discussions of interesting and useful cases, following the year's timetable
  • Quizzes, with prizes of course
  • Access to our Google Drive which has slides of sessions delivered
  • Support available through our Instagram - just drop us a message and we'll be able to answer questions

FAQs

  1. Who can turn up to events? - everyone is welcome, we tend to aim our events toward specific year groups within the MBChB degree at ARU. Our events are advertised to the specific year group they are targeted for (e.g. Renal event aimed at Year 2 MBChB).
  2. What sort of things do you cover? - we run many events, mainly revision sessions covering some key concepts relevant to each block. We also run ward-round simulation sessions, mock anatomy spots, mock OSCEs, and more!
  3. Do you guys provide resources? - Yes. For some of our events, mainly revision sessions, we share the slides on our Google Drive after the event. We aim to get these slides up within 2 weeks after the session, however, this is dependent on other factors as we are also full-time students!
  4. Do you cover lecture content? - Our sessions cover key concepts in medicine. They are not a replacement for your lectures. Our sessions are run intermittently throughout the year and by other fellow medical students.
  5. Do you run F2F or online events? - our events are mixed between online and F2F. Revision sessions tend to run in the evening and online for maximum engagement. Our F2F events vary in timings and location - subject to room availability and the nature of the event.
