LGBT+ History Month

Your opportunity to celebrate, share and engage with LGBTQ+ History Month at ARU. The SU are excited to share that this year's LGBTQ+ History Month will be running from the 1st - 28th February 2022!

What is LGBTQ+ Month?

LGBTQ+ History Month is a month long celebration and commemoration of Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual and Non-Binary History around the world. Here at ARU, we have been working with a team of your student reps. to put together a programme of events and resources for you to take part in. Our aim is to provide a huge range of social, educational and celebratory activities for you to share with others in the ARU community.

What's on during LGBTQ+ History Month?

This year an amazing panel of students including your very own LGBT+ & Trans reps have created and organised all sorts of incredible events including a coffee morning, a series of articles on LGBTQ+ heroes throughout history, watch and reading lists and so much more. Take a look at our what's on calendar to find out more.

Equality Networks are communities led by Campaign Reps to champion liberation, equality, diversity and inclusion.

The LGBT+ student network was established to bring ARU's LGBT+ students together, to discuss how to make our university an accepting and safe environment of all sexualities.

What does this network want to achieve?

We created this network so that ARU students in the LGBT+ community could share the issues they face daily; meet others who identify as LGBT+ and build a feeling of unity, and have an easy way of reaching out to their elected LGBT+ and Trans Representatives regarding their problems, as well as finding out about upcoming LGBT+ events. Together we will make ARU a safe place for our community.

How can I get involved?

You can get involved in the LGBT+ Equality Network by subscribing to our update service below or attending one of our upcoming events. Get in touch with your campaign representative to find out more.

We have LGBTQ+ Societies available to join for in-person and virtual events! Click their icons below to find out more about them!
