The Anglia Cup is coming up soon. But why should you sign up a team?
The Anglia Cup is a football tournament run by ARU Students’ Union, and is being held this year on Coldham’s Common on Sunday 29th April. Could you put togther a team of champions and claim the title? Then sign up before Monday 23rd April at 5pm. The event is run on a first come first served basis, so make sure you don’t leave this until the last minute. Here’s why you should sign up to take part in the Anglia Cup.
It’s a good way to stay active.

When you’re busy with deadlines and essays, it’s hard to remember to take time to look after yourself. Staying active is not only important for your physical health, but essential to maintaining a healthy mind as well. If you’re struggling, a one day activity like this is a great way to get back in the game, and complete some fitness. It will also help reduce your stress levels as we get closer to the exam period (eek!)
You get to pursue a sporting interest

If sport is something you’re interested in, but you haven’t had much time to take part because of your studying commitments, then this is the perfect opportunity to get back into it. And if football is something you really enjoy, taking part in the Anglia Cup is a great time to pursue your interest further.

There will be other teams amongst yours, so this is a great time to meet new people who are interested in sport or fitness like you. With alumni and current students attending, you can meet people who you might not have had the chance to meet before. Bond over your mutual interest in football, and make new friends!

By the time the tournament is over, you will feel so close to the people in your team. Working together with other people to reach a common goal brings us closer together. It’s a great way to make stronger relationships with the course mates, flat mates, or friends you have already. You’ll also make some really fun memories together which you’ll have a laugh about in the future!

Coldham’s Common is so lush and green, it makes a perfect location for a football tournament. The greenery, and being outside in nature, is really good for your mental health, as well – bonus!
