You’ve seen the posters, you’ve watched The Big Candidate Debate and the candidates have spoken to you about their campaign. But why should you vote? Here are some reasons why voting is so important.

It’s a chance to have your say.

Voting is an opportunity to put your opinion out there. You get to have your say about how ARU Students’ Union will be run and who will manage it and campaign on your behalf. Make sure that you vote to have your say.

You get to decide who represents you.

This is your chance to decide who will be representing you and your views. You get to pick who will be campaigning for the things you want to see. By voting, you are making the most important decision for ARU Students’ Union!

You can make a difference!

Voting might not seem like much, but it’s one of the most important things you’ll do at uni (except your degree, obviously!) By voting, you can make great changes happen, and most importantly, the changes you want to see.

The candidates have all put in time and effort.

All the candidates for all the roles have put in so much time and effort into designing posters, going to events, planning their campaigns, and talking to you guys. You should show your support and how much you appreciate their effort by voting for them.

You can make sure that you get what you want.

Don't know which candidate is for you? Did you miss The Big Candidate Debate? Watch again here:

If there are certain candidates that you connect with more than others, then make sure you cast your vote for them. You don’t want to feel that pang of regret if the person you wanted to get in didn’t, all because you didn’t vote.

Your vote could be the difference between a candidate winning and losing.

It is possible for a candidate to win or lose by a single vote, so don’t underestimate the power of your vote! Your vote could change the entire outcome of the Election Results.

It’s quick and easy!

Voting is as simple as putting a one in a box for the person you want to vote for. You can vote for numerous people if you wanted. So if you really liked one candidate, you would put a one in the box next to their name. But if there is another candidate you would want to win if they didn’t, you would put a two, and if there was another you would put a three, and so on. It will take you a couple of minutes to vote for your Faculty Rep, Vice Presidents, President, and any Campaign Reps you are able to vote for. Remember you can also vote on the SU app!

Because, why shouldn’t you?

Can you think of a good reason not to vote? Did you say you don’t want to vote for any of the candidates? Then you can vote to re-open nominations. There really isn’t a good reason not to vote! So what are you waiting for?

Go and get voting!
