This trimester has seen many new challenges, most recently the challenge has been getting an extension with your assignments.

Following the original announcement on Friday that the extensions team are taking longer to send responses to extension requests, Avinash (President) and myself (Em Long VP) met with the Deputy Vice Chancellor and the Academic Registrar on Friday evening to discuss the concerns coming up with the current format of extensions for this trimester.

We received confirmation yesterday of the procedures that will now be put in place, and want to reassure you that we are working hard to make sure that submitting your assignments go as smoothly as possible at no detriment to students.

The university will be amending their communication surrounding extensions to ensure everyone is made aware of the process involved. Anyone who submits an extension request should not submit any work until they receive notification of the outcome of their request (including if you receive a decision after the original deadline has passed).

If your extension is approved you will be able to submit by the revised deadline.

If your extension is rejected you will not be provided an extension but will either: (i) submit by the original deadline if it has not yet passed or (ii) have at least 24 hours to submit your work if the original deadline has already passed.

If you have already submitted your work but are subsequently granted an extension, you can replace the original work with a revised piece of work by your new deadline.

It's important to remember you should try to submit a detailed reason when you apply for an extension request to make sure it is effective i.e. don't put in a one sentence application otherwise you will be asked to provide further details which just adds time delays.

Please feel free to get in touch with us if you are unsure about any of the processes mentioned above.

We hope you have a great week!
