What are your campaigns/ what would you like to achieve for students this year?

?Sexual Assault support:

  • Review the current sexual assault support system at uni

  • Improve that system

  • Workshops on consent

  • Improve safety around campus

Why are you passionate about this project idea?

Country wide around 3 in 5 university students experience sexual assault and I am one of these students. The emotional implications of sexual assault can last a life time. We deserve more support when it happens from the university as well as safety measures to stop it from happening and properly deal with those who commit these acts. It’s time to empower women.

What made you stand to be a Rep?

If there is one thing I care about it’s the struggle of women. Growing up we have all seen the problems women face, from covert sexism to low self-esteem, this is something that can be changed. I want to be voice for those who cannot speak out and foster a community of empowerment among women.

What’s your favourite social media platform/ where can students find you to chat?

I will Facebook posting important updates on campaigns as well as empowering women. Most importantly I will be keeping connected with students I can’t meet in person. Drop me a message anytime about any experiences you are having and need someone to fight your corner on.

Follow my page: Izzy Woodcock Women Rep - ARU CAM

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I would like to be in some museum cleaning the skull of a tiger. More likely I will be entangled in some political movement to do with women’s rights bombarding local government with emails. Or maybe both

Share your three favourite tunes:

Billy Brag – There is power in a union

Queen- Bohemian rhapsody

2Pac- Keep your head up

?Tell us something not many people know about you.

?I am a mutant and have a third kidney. So if anyone needs a kidney donation?

?What's your ultimate ARU moment?

I started the Labour society and had no idea what I was doing at the time, only that I wanted to politically empower others. Half a year later I was on stage with my fellow students collecting an SU award for best new society.

?If you had a super power what would it be??

To be able to read my mind. Would be great to actually figure out what’s going on up there.
