Matt East, President 2009 – 2011 and now Learning Technologist for the Faculty of Science and Technology at Anglia Ruskin University

(This article was orginally written in 2012)

Because of the experience I gained in my 2 years as SU President, I am now in my dream job! I’m now the Learning Technologist for the Faculty of Science and Technology at ARU. This means I am the main lead on research, development, training and implementation of new technology across the faculty, designed to improve learning and teaching. I’m also a core member of the faculties learning and teaching team, leading on the strategic development of the faculty. The work I’ve been involved in since leaving the SU has resulted in student satisfaction across the faculty increasing considerably, and culture change within the academic community around technology being used in teaching. I never thought I’d be doing such a job by the time I finished Uni, and truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am now without being elected as President.
