Eating a balanced meal is crucial for being on top of productivity, but it’s not always easy finding the best places to eat when you’re in a new environment. So, we’re sharing our favourite local cafes and shops (near to our East India campus) where you can grab a bite to eat.
The Gentlemen Baristas
The Gentlemen Baristas offer a good choice of salads, pastries, coffee, smoothies. Don’t forget to show your student ID to get a 10% discount.

Simplyfresh
At Simplyfresh you can buy a meal deal and get complimentary fruit. The full price meal deal is £4.50 but this reduces to £4.27 for students. You can also get a 5% discount on other grocery options.

Salento
Italian restaurant Salento treats students to some amazing lunch deals (valid from 11:30 to 15:00), including pizza, chicken burger and chips, and gnocchi with soft drink; starting from £6.95. You will also get an additional 10% off your food if you eat seated inside the restaurant. If you’re into happy hours, the restaurant also runs these just for students, with offers changing on a weekly basis.

Sandwich Plus
Sandwich Plus provides a wide range of affordable lunch options, which you’ll be able to purchase from the third floor of our East India campus from 19th September.

Sweet Nothing Bakehouse
Get a 10% student discount on everything except for alcoholic drinks. Grab a cake and coffee before heading off to study or pop over for brunch!

Gelato a Casa
Gelato a Casa serves delicious dessert options and provides a 10% student discount for their pastries and desserts (gelato and drinks are not included).

- NISA Local - 1 Newport Ave, E14 2ED. Plenty of affordable sandwiches, pastries, pizza and snacks, with regular offers
- Subway - 1 Newport Ave, E14 2ED, in the same building as NISA Local. Ask SU staff for a voucher which gives you a 10% discount on your order
- Tesco Express - 262 Poplar High St, E14 9RL. Popular for their £3.50 meal deals, you can get this for £3 with a Clubcard
