Student conference ARU Peterborough 2025:

Back in February, ARUP hosted the Student Conference. This was a fantastic opportunity for both undergraduate and postgraduate students to enhance their presentation and employability skills. The event featured a student panel discussion and various presentations, providing valuable experience that will help strengthen CVs and career prospects. Some of our students presented on the following topics:

Student 1: Kelly Jesus – The Need for Reform in Family Law
Kelly's presentation explored the challenges of updating family law to reflect evolving societal norms, particularly in areas like custody arrangements and financial provisions. She discussed the balance between necessary reform and preserving foundational legal principles, highlighting the forces resisting change and potential paths forward.

Student 2: Ayomide Adeotan – A Story Worth Telling: How Education Changed My Life
Ayomide shared her personal journey of overcoming life challenges, including becoming a young mother, and how education became her path to a brighter future. She emphasized the importance of persistence, support, and the transformative power of education in overcoming obstacles and opening doors to new opportunities.

Student 3: Elijah Adegun – The Effects of Ebola Virus on the Economy of West Africa through the Trade Channel
Elijah's research examined how the Ebola virus impacted the economies of West Africa, focusing on trade data from Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Nigeria. His study highlighted how Ebola affected GDPs, with Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea being more severely impacted than Nigeria.

Well done to all of the students who took part!
