Mindful Midwifery: Molly O'Briens Moving For An Easier Birth

Molly O’Brien is an experienced midwife who in the course of her career has developed and used positions and movement to help women experiencing painful and obstructed labours.   In this course she introduces the biomechanics of birth, diagnostic tools to better assess position, simple movements and positions to help women affected by malposition and other non invasive techniques midwives can use to help manage discomfort during pregnancy and labour.

Understanding birth as a biomechanical process allows practitioners to develop and apply simple, non invasive techniques to reduce tension, release torsion, tightness and relieve pelvic misalignment. Balancing the pelvis, even temporarily, offers the baby more space to find an optimal position, flexing it’s head and descending more easily. This improved position reduces the intense pain caused by a malposition and increases the woman’s chance of having a straightforward birth.
