What is Eid ul-Adha?
Eid ul-Adha is a big festival which is celebrated by Muslims around the world in remembrance of the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
Ibrahim showed a willingness to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail but his son was replaced with a lamb by Allah. Allah was so pleased with Ibrahim’s submission to him that he made this demonstration of sacrifice and faith a permanent part of a Muslim’s life.
How to people celebrate Eid ul- Adha?
Following the Eid prayer on the first day of Eid ul-Adha, often people start to offer a sacrifice – Qurbani – to remember the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to Allah (SWT).
A portion of this meat (from a sheep, goat or cow ) then goes to help our brothers and sisters in need.
