Personal Statement
Hi everyone, I’m Jessica Austin, I was your postgraduate research representative in 2015 and I’m putting myself forward to represent you again in the 2017/18 academic year. I am currently in my 3rd year of my PhD in the English and Media department and some of you may have seen my recent presentations at the 11th Annual Student Research conference or at the recent ALSS faculty conference. As well as having done this role before I was also the youngest elected parish councillor in Norfolk when I was 18, a role for which I was re-elected for 5 years in a row.
Manifesto
I intend to build on the work of previous reps by making sure that I keep in regular contact with you all over email and the ARU research Facebook page. I aim to attend all meetings and publish the notes and updates in my own words to keep you all informed on what is going on in our faculty. I will work with other reps to make sure that our interests are being met so that postgraduate research students are not left behind. I will make sure to speak to researchers who have brilliant ideas on what we could be doing better to pass onto the faculty.
