For English Language and Linguistics/English Language Studies Course Rep
|
Who I am:
My name is Rebecca Shirley and I am currently in my second year of studying English Language and Linguistics. I am a passionate and determined individual who will constantly work to create a course that suits ALL students. I am friendly and approachable, and will always be willing to listen to your opinions or worries.
|
What I would like to achieve:
Learning:
- Make certain that each module we take throughout the course of this year will be fully relevant to the course.
- Try to ensure that essay deadlines and/or exam dates are fair, if not, I will aim to change them to suit everyone’s needs.
- Guarantee that all teaching/learning resources will be available to ALL students through canvas.
Communication:
- Increase student feedback by encouraging face-to-face meet ups or talks as well as sending out email surveys to get a more representative view.
- Improve communication between the course rep and students by keeping everyone up to date with any news or changes within the course.
- Maintain a solid professional relationship between lectures/university officials and students
Making a REAL difference:
- Provide leadership for everyone on the course, listening to every opinion or worry.
- Previous course reps have created an amazing course for us so far, I will continue to make a real difference to provide a similarly engaging course for new students in the future.
|
Why you should vote for me:
I am extremely passionate about the course, I have studied the subject through the entirety of my school life, and want my fellow students to thoroughly enjoy each module as much as I do. I will continually be actively seeking out student feedback to get the best possible outcomes after meetings. I will attend all SSLC meetings as well as extra SU events, such as Meet the Dean and the NUS National Course Rep Conference, so that you can all see that I am fulfilling my role.
