Hello, my name is Luca, I'm studying Marine Biology and I’m standing for LGBT+ Rep.

I want to be a part of the committee to help everyone’s voice be heard by those capable of creating change in the university. Representing the LGBT+ community is something I have always wanted to do, coming out is a very tough decision to make, and I want to make university a place where people can express themselves freely, and not feel they need to hide who they are. When I came out, I received nothing but encouragement and support– which I hope I will be able to reciprocate to all the LGBT+ students attending ARU.

I hope as rep, I can help drive changes to see more exposure for the community and its allies, to bring about more exposure for the LGBT+ society. Also, I’d hope to see a change within the university, to teach more to the LGBT+ community about the dangers of unprotected sex, and how to be safe – something that remains unspoken in compulsory education.
