Mr Fraser Luther-Yarwood (Three for All)

If I am voted to be the next Students Union President I pledge to:

  • Be involved with any current and new societies, I will assist where I can in promotion, memberships and will also do my very best to help with any queries.
  • Support equality and fight against discrimination around the university and in the community such as LGBTQ+, mental health, and other groups.
  • Listen and take action where necessary to any queries or concerns regarding any and all faculties when meetings are in place.
  • Strive to optimise communication between staff and students to ensure less stressful situations whether it be through faculties or societies.
  • Represent the union in the most effective way to the benefit of both the union and the students.

Now for a little bit of background about who I am. I am Fraser Luther-Yarwood, currently a 3rd year student on the Education Studies course. I am also currently the Year 3 Education Studies course rep as well as President of the Tea and Hot Chocolate society and the LGBTQ+ society.

Progressively through the years I have become increasingly involved in the SU as well as the progression of my course through SSLC committees and faculty forums. I have worked closely with the staff and students to gather feedback and opinions about the course and have responded to them in order to improve the student experience. One of my greatest contributions, in my opinion, has been the formation of the 'Against cuts to Education' policy which supports education students here at Anglia Ruskin, protests any unnecessary cuts to the education field as well as potential working with local teachers unions to develop the current knowledge base.

Particularly in my 3rd year I have become a lot more involved in helping the LGBTQ+ society and have worked closer with the mental health campaigns as well as getting to know some of the students on other courses in order to gather a better understanding about the different courses. If I was to be elected by you to be president I believe I will have the necessary knowledge, understanding and experience to do a good job for all students and societies. I am a very outgoing person, hardworking while being very approachable and friendly. For me this is a great opportunity to give back to both the university and importantly the students that have made my experience here one I will never forget and I see no greater pleasure than to be able to give back to all the students at Anglia Ruskin to help them have as great an experience as I have had.

Quite simply I want to be President so I can listen to the student, support the student and represent the student. Thank you!
