RAMEES NAZAR

Hello, I’m Ramees Nazar from the Faculty of Business and Law at Anglia Ruskin University. And I am keen to lead in the role of the Students’ Union President, to provide an essential foundation for all students by increasing critical awareness in destigmatising and acknowledging our community.

My aspiration to accommodate those struggling with their mental health is more than just a personal concern as a Second-year postgraduate student, but a universal social requirement, therefore by using the networks within the university as an efficient introduction for each academic year. My primary objective: to build communication between the Students’ Union and the Student Body, is achievable through both regular online updates and in-person ‘Welcome’ and ‘Welcome Back’ events that will contribute towards a personalised community, where Students’ Union is for everyone. Conclusively, I assure the Student Body that I am a reliable choice and an optimistic leader for my peers. Whose disciplined approach to collective well-being would prove myself a sufficient candidate in representing the students from Anglia Ruskin University.

Initiatives which I am looking to complete this year are:

  • Continue developing new media platforms (such as video diaries, podcasts etc.) in which all students can access ordered video lectures for the visually impaired and extend opportunities in virtual media for students on or off campus (this is crucially beneficial for international students).

  • Equitable Sports Membership Support: I'll be committed to ensuring all students have access to sports facilities. I'll establish a support program to provide subsidies for sports memberships, ensuring deserving students can participate regardless of financial constraints.

  • Carry out the Students’ Union recommendations further, with our new Society tiering system, whilst also supporting our relationship with academic staff. The new and existing societies will expand across courses and increase their membership engagement.

  • Increasing and encouraging more participation in sports through promoting club membership sales and developing more interdepartmental sports competitions.

  • Arrange Campus Transport minivans and private Teacher Parking – This particularly is an outstanding problem not just for students, but staff as well.

  • Administer verbal and virtual communication between each University Faculty (with priorities for meeting course leaders, as well as feedback video-chats for in-depth academic improvement) and new Students for a better campus culture; As well as competitive Faculty-led events in the Students’ Union for students to represent annually.

  • Demystify the concerns of new accommodators through campus conference events and online student-led advice.

  • To motivate a mental health community – by having seasonal campaigns -and virtual anonymity will always be a choice- that exhibit reassuring conversation between student profiles and further opportunities on campus, such as painting competitions, writing challenges, with music and group photograph collages. Due to the significant bottling up of emotions students encounter through their studies, I’ll focus on encouraging healthy discussion. Hence, I hope this will allow ARU an insight into the extent of the struggles that university students face enlarged by the Cost-of-living crisis in this post-pandemic world.

  • To create a positive, relaxed, friendly environment in which students can approach the President anytime to offer any ideas, pose questions or just chat.

  • Facilitate partnerships and mentorship programs between current students and successful alumni entrepreneurs. By tapping into the expertise and experience of our alumni network, students can gain valuable guidance, support, and direction for their entrepreneurial endeavours.

  • I'll tackle the cost of living crisis by advocating for affordable housing, expanding financial aid, and partnering with local businesses to provide discounts. make it more understandable.

  • Establishing a comprehensive network to support students with accommodation needs is essential for ensuring their well-being and academic success.

  • Provide our student societies the freedom and support they need to thrive on their own.
