Hi, I am Akshit Sharma, a 2nd year Computer Science student, and I’m running to be your next Vice President of Science and Engineering. Have a quick read of my manifesto:

ACCESSIBLE EDUCATION:

DIVERSIFYING THE CURRICULUM & ACADEMIC SKILLS WORKSHOPS:

  • Improved internship advice for those worried about securing vital work experience.
  • Mentor programs for all students struggling with inaccessible and dense reading materials.
  • Increased support for how to cope with exam and coursework stress.
  • Improved counselling services and mental health awareness across departments
  • Seminar confidence building workshops for those anxious about participating in seminar discussions.

LIBRARY- LAB SERVICES:

  • Lab software access in libraries
  • Extended lab opening/closing time during written exams and practical exams.
  • More Course reading material and increasing the number of currently available books.
  • Making more library books accessible online for those who cannot access the Library.

 

JOBS and CAREERS:

MORE Jobs and Careers SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONAL, GRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS:

  • International students – introducing a wider variety of workshops for job hunting and career guidance.
  • Supporting international students consistently throughout their degree in financial, social, careers, coursework, and visa-related matters.
  • Postgraduate students - increased funding and help in job search for postgrads and PhD students.

 

WOMEN IN EDUCATION:

IMPROVED SUPPORT FOR WOMEN IN ACADEMIA & STEM SUBJECTS:
