CRISTINA RAMIREZ

Hello!

My name is Cristina Ramirez (she/her) and I am a fundation year student in the Business and Law faculty. I am standing to be elected as the Mental Health student representative for the year 2020/2021 because I believe being in this role would lead us to make a difference in the lives of all students across Anglia Rusking University. In order to be successful in university life we need to have good mental health, be happy with ourselves, and do the things we love. Throughout my life I have sought happiness in other people, in other resources and places, when happiness is and always has been within me. Since I started the university I decided to be happy with even the smallest achievement, although sometimes to smile you have to cry, you have to keep in mind that after the storm the rainbow will come, this is very easy to say, but to do... it is another story.

My whole manifesto is based on being happy with ourselves. In these times of uncertainty and loneliness we have to have a fresh and active mind, not let our thoughts cloud our purpose, we must find the balance to be able to be alone without feeling alone.

As your Mental Health representative, my goal is to ensure:

- Being the spokesperson for students with mental health problems, where we will make the university listen to us and help to improve the health, happiness and confidence of the students.

-Anyone can make their voice heard and express their feelings, to enhance the student's experience of wellness, express their opinion on how the university works in implementing mental health solutions, regardless of faculty, year, or any other factor.

- Make stress relief events as yoga and meditation zooms, psychology sessions, exercise challenges, etc. In addition to creating dynamics with social distancing on campus. Make sure that every day students have a source of relief, where they can rest their mind, exercise it and make it happier.

- I will do my best to reach out to students as I believe the best way to improve the experience of a student where well-being is involved is through the student's voice.

- Establish an emergency number of contact for the University with a qualified staff and promote awareness of this among students and former students.

- I will put positivity and motivation boards and leaflets around the University.

- I think that it is very important for students to have access to free and frequent drop-ins in mental and sexual health, free of judgement, to guarantee their well-being. In order to further improve the mental health networks and services that we have,  also collaborate with local mental health charities.

I would be honoured to represent you during the coming year and to be given the opportunity to make a positive impact on your university experience.

Thank you for reading my manifesto and taking your time. Please do not hesitate to send me a message via email (anacristirr@gmail.com) or via instagram (@anacristina.rr) if you would like a complete copy of my manifesto or if you have any questions or feedback.
