My Priorities

  • Continue work on The Bar campaign, ensuring it has consistent leadership and stays on track to be completed this calendar year.
  • Lobby ARU to secure more accommodation for students on the Chelmsford Campus
  • Improve the process of finding accommodation for students – as well as lobbying for more affordable housing options in Cambridge
  • Create the tools for collaboration between courses University wide, especially supporting final year and research students who wish to develop cross-departmental project oppurtunnities
  • Ensure ARU remains proactive in regards to the Climate Emergecy

The Life and Times of George Mason

Across my three years at ARU, I have faced numerous issues, which have now become inspiration for my biggest priorities…

  • Coming from a low income background, I understand the financial difficulties most students face at ARU. University is expensive, with hidden costs and surging housing prices. I hope to make ARU a more affordable choice.
  • Throughout my time at ARU, I have worked on the multiple versions of the SU bar, from this I know how important a social space on campus is, through ensuring cosistent student leadership for the bar project moving forward, I will deliver the space sutdents need, not the space ARU wants.

I have so much more to say than I can fit on anything readable. So if you would like to ask me any questions, you can by clicking on the iconic picture of that handsome fellow to your right, ad adding me on Facebook (I promise I’m a really nice guy and will send memes for votes / friends)

Supporting other elected roles

As President, I intend to work closely with the rest of my Officer Team, which is why I am running as part of The SUitable Candidates.

  • Emily Long (VP FSE) – Improving access to buildings such as Compass House and Marconi, which provide important facilities which aren’t accessible outside of weekday working hours. This is a continuation of the Access Denied campaign run over the last 2 years.
  • Rhiannon-Breeze Harris (VP HEMS) – Supporting parents in education, enabling them to get the most out of their studies.
  • Mira-Ceti Andreassen (VP AHSS) – Reintroduce and enforce having free timetables on Wednesday afternoons, to support sports clubs, societies, and general student well-being.

I also plan to ensure the engagement and representation of Campaign and Faculty Reps, working with them to develop their skills and confidence to facilitate change, big or small, across ARU.

Supporting Societies

Over my three years at ARU, I have helped run the majority of events the SU have held. In recent times I have noticed a huge increase in the quality of events that societies have organised. As President, I would continue to support societies to put on great events, such as the recent Global Week Showcase.

Working on the old Academy Bar also gives me unique insight on how to use the upcoming permanent bar in Cambridge to both showcase our incredible societies and host amazing events. Such as the one below where you can see me singing (very badly I assure you) with Matt Hayes, the current President and candidate for AHSS Faculty Rep!
