FATIMA FOR VP AHSS!

Hi! My name is Fatima. I am studying BA English Literature (HONS) 3rd year. I have been working as a student ambassador since 2017. Therefore, I have worked with various departments and faculties on different campuses of the university. Through this, I have developed leadership, planning, public speaking, decision making and effective communication skills all of which are vital to this role. I believe in #bringchangeARU.

I am campaigning for a six fix:

  1. Hygienic toilets and extreme water temperatures:

Toilet hygiene has been a major issue especially in the ground floor restrooms. Dirty toilets spread diseases and viral infections. It affects student health and well-being. Also, with the COVID-19 outbreaks it is important to have soap, functioning taps and reasonably tempered water.

       2. Improvement of Employability:

The current system in place for student employability requires improvement as a lot of students including those from AHSS are worried about employment after their graduation.

        3. International Students:

Coming to university from another country can be terrifying. Therefore, I would like to introduce “Knowledge packs”. This will include basic local information like nearby places to shop for necessities and eat for those with dietary requirements etc.

         4. Mental Health:

I would also like to re-introduce “Let’s be honest” campaign to re-evaluate our way of thinking about mental health.

         5. Quality Preservation:

Ensure that all students and teachers abide by their respective roles in order to improve the standards set by the institution.

         6. Sustainability:

Accomplishing the above, while taking the environment into consideration by promoting ARU Green. Also, limiting the role of printing by the SU and reducing plastic usage.
