Hashim Abdul Qadir

I am a Third year Civil Engineering Student who has been part of the Representation team in student Rep capacity for all the 3 years. This I feel has given me enough knowledge of the key issues that are faced by scholars of the Science and Technology Faculty, through years of talking to students about their day to day issues. I will aim to tackle many of the basic issues such as extending software access to beyond the classroom which would lower the amount of frustrated students who need to access the computer room after hours only to be told they do not have permission, furthermore I will look into improving the intra-departmental communication to ensure all issues that students have can be resolved efficiently. Departmentally mandated printing allowance were needed should be allowed to help students from having financial loses when they want to print off presentation slides they need or course work which is in A3 paper format and costs a fortune to print. If I am elected the possibility of an improved welcome/induction for incoming students to the Faculty of Science Technology will be explored. I must also stress the importance of mental health; as one sees many of their fellow classmate’s mental health worsen due to stress, so mandatory classes on how to manage workload should be held and use of the resources that the university provides should be emphasized and encouraged.
