Public Health Society - Peterborough

The Public Health Society aims to:

*To promote public health awareness and advocacy among university students and staff through educational events, workshops, and campaigns to achieve physical, mental, and social well-being within the university community.

* To foster a supportive environment for students interested in public health, encouraging networking, collaboration, and mentorship as well as provide opportunities to curate hands-on experience for students.

* To encourage community engagement with the City of Peterborough by organizing volunteer opportunities and partnerships with local health organisations.

The society is planning the following events:

1. Host Weekly in-house meetings to share industry specific public health knowledge.

2. Host monthly events targeted at the university at large (e.g., guest lectures, seminars, or webinars) on topics such as nutrition, mental health, and preventive health.

3. Create collaborative projects with university departments, local health agencies, and nonprofits to broaden the reach of health promotion initiatives.

4. Develop and share health education materials via social media, email newsletters, and campus bulletins to provide accessible, evidence-based information.

5. Organize peer-led support groups and discussions on health topics to encourage open dialogue and support within the student community.

6. Implement awareness campaigns to address critical health issues (e.g., mental health awareness, stress management, physical activity, sexual health).

7. Career/Mentorship opportunities for students with interest in Public Health
