Turkish Society - Cambridge
As the Turkish Society at Anglia Ruskin University, we are a cultural and non-political student community that aims to bring together both Turkish students and those from different backgrounds who are interested in Turkish culture. When founding this society, our main goal was to ensure that Turkish students studying abroad don’t feel alone, to help them stay connected to their cultural roots, and to create a space where they can proudly share their heritage with others.
At the same time, we warmly welcome anyone who wants to learn more about Turkey — its history, traditions, and way of life. We believe that cultural exchange enriches the university experience, and we want to make Turkish culture more visible and accessible on campus.
Our society is more than just a group that organizes events — it’s a community that encourages meaningful friendships and a strong sense of belonging. From Turkish food nights to cultural discussions, national holiday celebrations to collaborative events within the university, we aim to stay active, inclusive, and engaging. We also value opportunities to connect with Turkish academics and alumni at ARU, and we see these connections as a great source of both inspiration and support.
In short, as ARU Turkish Society, we want to create a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for anyone who wants to celebrate, experience, or simply learn more about Turkish culture.
