SAVE THE NHS – What’s that about?
The NHS is the UK’s greatest national achievement, ensuring that access to health care is based on need, not wealth. It has cared for generations of working people, improving their health and their life chances, placing fairness at the heart of our society.
The Coalition’s Health and Social Care Bill will destroy the NHS. It will place it in the hands of business and put profit before patient care.
WHAT’S IT GOT TO DO WITH STUDENTS?
Everyone will be affected but it’s a particular concern for students on healthcare courses; as one London nursing student said, “As student nurses, we want to work for a publicly run and publicly accountable national health service. We do not want to face a lottery of private providers of varying quality. The future of the NHS is our future – as nurses and as patients – and it’s time to stand up and be counted."
A petition by 38degrees demanding the Bill is dropped has already gathered over 500,000 signatures and another petition on the Government’s own website has over 160,000. Sign them here:
